Haslingfield Allotments 2012 – the year ahead

Things are quiet on my plots just now. I have parsnips and kale to harvest still, autumn raspberries to prune back and perimeter fencing to strengthen. Its been a much drier Autumn/Winter so far and the usual flooding has not yet occured. I have some beds ready for planting in mid-February: sowings of parnsip, onions, garlic and broad beans. Then in March turnips, chard, beetroot, celeriac.

I’m looking forward to using the comments  field of this blogsite to start a discussion forum with other Haslingfield allotment tenants, where we can exchange hints and tips on fruit and vegetable growing and allotment management. Let me know if you have any questions or ideas to share. Click on the Allotments/Food self-sufficiency category to read other related articles. More will follow.
